Keeping Your Bearded Dragon Healthy with a Good Diet
A good diet is critical for the health of any animal, and a Bearded Dragon is no different. It might be a little confusing figuring out what to give them at first, but once you realize that they are omnivores like humans you will understand a little better. A very young dragon prefers to dine on small insects. When they start to get older, you will find that their tastes are changing and they will prefer to get vegetables instead. They are not done with insects yet though, and will like them for the majority of their diet at around two to four months old.
When your Bearded Dragon is between two and four months, they are considered a juvenile. They will need to eat two to three times each day and like mostly insects but also some vegetables. Some of the insects that are really popular with these reptiles include earthworms, crickets, cockroaches, mealworms, and king worms. They love to eat wax worms, but because they’re high in fat, you don’t want to use them every time. To really keep your dragon healthy, be sure to coat the insects with calcium, every day if they are a juvenile and every other day if they are an adult.
